Even though the 2020 Masters Tournament won't have patrons or guests this year, we're still getting in The Masters spirit -- because, why not? The big event, typically held in April, was postponed to November 9-15 due to the coronavirus. While those who had tickets can't be there in person this year, we can all still be there in spirit. Thank goodness for television coverage of the event.
Despite the challenges, we're holding true to our Masters Week golf specials during Masters Week and look forward to having players enjoy our championship golf course. Here's what players can look forward to:
Play our award-winning Weiskopf/Morrish-designed course
Recently ranked #4 on Golfweek's Best 2020: Best Courses You Can Play, our course was designed by Tom Weiskopf (a four-time Masters runner-up himself) and Jay Morrish. It winds through wooded hillsides, touches beautiful Lake Oconee six times, and skirts four creeks. As per the typical Weiskopf-Morrish course, ours is challenging yet incredibly fun to play. It was specifically designed and constructed to embolden and encourage players to enjoy the game. In fact, there are two drivable par 4s that can have some rather impressive outcomes. It's all about risk and reward, a renowned signature of our course designers.
The weather is excellent in November
From what we're hearing, we'll have another balmy winter this year. Take advantage of our beautiful Georgia weather in November. Usually, all you'll need to stay warm on the course is a few light layers. Playing golf here is an excellent opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Plus, you get to indulge in the stunning views of Lake Oconee with your family and friends. The bonus? Playing golf is a perfect way to absorb more Vitamin D -- the "sunshine vitamin" that helps keep bones and immunity strong.
Golf is safe to play, even during a pandemic
Fortunately, golf is an outdoor sport that is easy to enjoy, even with social distancing protocols in place. Our highly-acclaimed 18-hole Weiskopf-Morrish-designed golf course offers fairways and greens that make the course aesthetically pleasing and fun to play for all skill levels. Plus, players have access to our driving range, short-game facility, and putting green. Since the pandemic began, we've taken extra precautions to protect all players' health and well-being, including:
- All players must maintain social distancing before, during, and after play.
- One rider is allowed per golf cart. (Families may ride together.)
- All coolers, ball washers, and bunker rakes have been removed from the course.
- There's no need for golfers to touch the flags. We use either an inverted cup or one slightly above the turf on each hole.
- The cart staff is taking extra measures to clean and sanitize each cart after every use.
Here, you can certainly feel safe, yet still have a fantastic time. But don't take it from us. A player just recently left this review on Golf Advisor:
"Great lineup of holes, some challenging holes, and some great par 3s. Few dog legs and blind hill shots...Nice clubhouse and very friendly staff! Bathroom facilities on the course were clean and well maintained, especially during these COVID times. Pre-round golf range was well stocked with balls and one of the better ranges I have been on with multiple flags and pole markers."
