Live at Harbor Club — Live Closer to Family
Location, location, location. It’s the main requirement for almost all homebuyers. But there’s one unique selling point that we discovered from our record-setting real estate sales last year. Many of the people who bought homes in our community did so to be closer to family. Of course, we have plenty of young families moving into our neighborhood, but we’re also seeing an increase in the number of “empty nesters” putting down roots here at Harbor Club. Here’s why:
Harbor Club is close to Atlanta, Athens, and Augusta
Our Southern Living-Inspired Community is conveniently located in Greensboro, Georgia. It’s only about an hour east of Atlanta, just off Interstate 20. We’re essentially midway between Atlanta and Augusta and about 40 minutes south of Athens. Our proximity to those cities puts us within arms-reach of all the best that Georgia has to offer (top employers, educational institutions, professional sports, etc.) But, it’s also an excellent location for parents who wish to be closer to their kids — especially those “kids” who’ve already “flown the coop.” Consider these facts:
- Excellent education – While we have excellent schools nearby for younger kids, Atlanta is also home to the Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and Emory University. Athens is where you’ll find our state’s flagship public university, UGA (the University of Georgia.) With plenty of top-notch schools so close to home, it’s no surprise that parents of undergraduate and graduate students find Harbor Club to be the perfect place to live. It’s close enough to be close to their kids yet far enough away to be, well, far enough away. You know what we mean.
- Elite employers – Once college is complete, many graduates easily find excellent jobs nearby. Atlanta has the third-largest number of Fortune 500 companies in the nation. It’s also home to the global headquarters of corporations like The Coca-Cola Company, Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, AT&T, Chick-fil-A, and UPS. In fact, more than 75% of Fortune 1000 companies conduct business operations in Atlanta, and Delta is the largest employer. Of course, it’s no surprise that UGA is the top employer in Athens, but there are other prominent employers such as Athens Regional Medical Center, St Mary’s Health Care System, and Caterpillar. Multiple pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and biotechnology companies such as Merial and Janssen Pharmaceuticals are located in Athens, as is the independent publisher Hill Street Press. And in Augusta, we have the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon as top employers, as well as Augusta University and EZ GO. (Note: You’ll probably see a lot of EZ GOs around our neighborhood.)
- Family philosophy – Parents work hard to raise their kids to be mature, capable, independent young adults. Once they’re well-educated, employed, and independently established, many “kids” go on to have families of their own. When that happens, close proximity to grandchildren is a huge factor for determining where “Nan and Pops” decide to live. After all, family gatherings and holidays are infinitely better (and more fun) with multiple generations and grandkids all together. (Worth reading: 5 Reasons Families Love Living at Lake Oconee)
