Harbor Club LGA Wins Lake Oconee Challenge Two Years Running
The Lake Oconee Challenge is an annual golf tournament where the ladies golf associations from Harbor Club, Cuscowilla, and Reynolds compete for cheerful bragging rights. Also known as the “3-Club Challenge,” it’s an excellent way for women from all three communities to mix and mingle for a fun day of golf and camaraderie.
You may recall that Harbor Club hosted the Lake Oconee Challenge last year in 2017. Despite a rainout on the first attempt at play, the second attempt resulted in a satisfying win for the Harbor Club team. The 2018 Lake Oconee Challenge was kindly hosted by Reynolds on Lake Oconee. The tournament was played on June 20 at The Preserve golf course. As you can see from the scoreboard, it was a close match — but we’re proud to announce that the Harbor Club ladies were triumphant once again!
This makes it two years in a row that our team has won the tournament. Participating this year for Harbor Club were Kathy Kurelic, Janel McCullers, Terri Ligon, Millicent Zamirowski, Sherrie Southern, Betsy Yancey, Viki Shadoan, Terri Shaul, Patricia Balduff, Shirley Wheeler, Penny Davis, Dale Fahey Ellie Davis, Linda Chesbro, and Dottie Suggs.
When chatting about the victory with Harbor Club General Manager, Brandon Matney, Patricia Balduff stated, “We are happy that you want to use this victory to promote [Harbor Club]. We’re a great community.”
Will the Harbor Club LGA ladies continue their winning streak in 2019? If history repeats itself, it certainly seems likely, but we’ll have to wait until next summer to find out. Cuscowilla will be the host course for the 2019 match.
