Not to Miss Fall Festivals at Lake Oconee

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that the fun stops too. Living at Lake Oconee in the fall has its benefits! With the cooler weather and the leaves changing, it’s not only a beautiful time of year to be outside, it’s the beginning of a fantastic fall festival season.

There are plenty of festivals to choose from throughout our state, but if you are interested in some closer to home in Georgia’s Lake Country, check out these interesting options: 

Briar Patch Arts Festival

This local festival in downtown Eatonton is in its seventh year. There are six zones you and your family can enjoy, labeled as: arts and crafts, food and beverages, informational and local, fun and activities, community history, mystery, and entertainment.

Day: September 30, 2017

Time: 9am – 3pm

Location: Putnam County Courthouse Lawn, located at 100 South Jefferson Avenue, as well as the streets surrounding the square in Historic Downtown Eatonton

Ticket info: Admission is free.

Taste of Eatonton

We are a proud platinum sponsor for this event, Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce’s largest fundraiser to date. This year, you’ll find over 20 restaurants from Eatonton-Putnam County, Milledgeville, Greensboro, Madison and Monticello, all vying to offer you the best of the best in delicious foods and treats. There will also be a silent auction and live music by Tim Cadiere and Washboard Road Band.

Day: October 2, 2017

Time: 6:30pm

Location: Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton

Ticket info: $20 in advance, $25 the day of. Ages five and under eat free. Special group rate available for groups of 15 or more for $15 each. Tickets can be purchased from the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce and all local branches of The Peoples Bank, Farmers & Merchants Bank, and Exchange Bank.

Madison Chili Cook-off and Fall Festival

Check out chili teams compete in two categories with public chili sampling beginning at 12:30 sharp. Sample, and then vote, for your favorite chili. Shop for locally grown produce, fall plants, and beautiful handmade arts and crafts by regional artists while listening to live music from the music tent. There will also be a Krystal’s Chili Pup Eating Contest and Homemade Cornbread Contest as well as lots of fun things for kids to do.

Day: October 7, 2017

Time: 10:30am – 4pm

Location: Madison Town Park

Ticket info: Admission is free. $5 chili tasting wristbands go on sale at noon. Proceeds help support the volunteer fire department.

Deep Roots

Named one of Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 events, winner of Southeast Festivals and Events Association (SFEA) Best Event 2009 and voted Lake Oconee Living magazine’s Best Event for 2010, Deep Roots is a cultural art and music festival not to be missed. It includes an antique car show, live entertainment, artist market, and LittleRoots KidZone. This year’s event also includes a highly acclaimed barbecue competition through the Georgia Barbecue Association.

Day: October 21, 2017

Time: 10am-11:30pm

Location: Downtown Milledgeville

Ticket info: PreSale available October 1 for $6 each. Admission Fee on October 21 will be $8 each, with 4 or more it will be $6 each (kids 10 & under receive free KIDZONE pass). After 5 pm on October 21 the cost is $15 each.
