As you may already know, Harbor Club on Lake Oconee recently won the Real Estate Scorecard Bliss Award for Best Georgia Community of the Year. We are incredibly proud of this achievement. Margie Casey, founder of Real Estate Scorecard, presented the prestigious award to our general manager, Brandon Matney at the award ceremony this past July. You can tell from the photos that it was a proud occasion.
While Margie was in town for the big event, she and our sales director, Kathy Phillips, sat down for a friendly, fireside chat. In the comfort of the outdoor living room of our Southern Living Inspired model home, they discussed several of the compelling things that contribute to Harbor Club's success. You can watch the video in its entirety, but we wanted to point out some of the more interesting things you'll learn about.
The advantages of Harbor Club's location
Conveniently located midway between Atlanta and Augusta, and just 40 minutes south of Athens, Harbor Club’s location puts you within arms-reach of all the best that Georgia has to offer. It offers excellent educational, healthcare, retail and other helpful facilities. For example, Lake Oconee Academy is right down the road and is one of the top 25 K-12 Charter schools in the country. Also, St Mary's Hospital and several nearby doctor's offices offer a plethora of healthcare services. Also, with a craft brewery, great restaurants, and boutique shops, Greensboro is an appealing small town with big city appeal.
The benefits of living in a golf and lake community
Harbor Club is a community that has the unique advantage of having nine miles of shoreline right on Lake Oconee. It’s highly award-winning golf course touches that shoreline at six different holes. It's also a golf cart-friendly neighborhood. For those who have golf carts that match the club’s carts, they’ll never have to load or unload their clubs since they can conveniently drive right onto the course.
There are several types of golf memberships available--from casual "sip-n-putters," to more serious golfers, to those that merely want to enjoy Harbor Club's social events and recreational amenities. The Boathouse also gives every member and resident of Harbor Club direct access to Lake Oconee. It makes boating on the lake a breeze. There's a marina, a convenience store, a fantastic restaurant, and it's also the place where our free summer concerts take place.
The multitude of health and fitness facilities
There are so many fun activities available to Harbor Club residents and members. Residents have access to pickleball and tennis courts--with plans for adding more soon. The Grove facility includes a 2000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art fitness building that houses new weight and cardio machines, an exercise studio, and a broad variety fitness classes. There is also a popular hiking trail, dog park, a community Victory Garden, and more.
A wide variety of beautiful, designer-ready homes
Harbor Club homes cater to several types of smart homebuyers. Whether you want a new home or a resale, have a young family or are looking to "rightsize" and conveniently age in place, there's a home for you. Patriot Builders (Harbor Club's in-house builder) is busy with several new construction projects. Some of these include gorgeous Southern Living-Inspired floor plans that are built to the "designer-ready" phase. At that point, buyers can simply pick out their favorite finishing details at the design studio. It makes the process of buying and customizing a newly-built home a lot of fun.
Harbor Club is a debt-free community
Likely one of the most compelling reasons to admire Harbor Club is that it is entirely debt-free...and the Matney family intends to keep it that way. As they remain very involved in the community, the Matneys (and their team) work hard to continuously add more value to every resident and member. Great things are always on the horizon in our warm, friendly neighborhood.
