Harbor Club Testimonial Highlight: Amy Cox

You may have seen our recent testimonial article highlighting Harbor Club resident Terry Lawler. There are many reasons why Terry and his wife chose to live in Harbor Club, but above all, it was the genuine neighborly feel of the community. This time we sat down with another happy resident, Amy Cox, to learn what brought her to Harbor Club and what she enjoys most about living here.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My husband and I have been retired a little over five years now. We moved to Harbor Club this past August from Snellville, Georgia. We have two kids. One lives in Athens and the other lives in Macon. We’re glad that we all live relatively close to one another. We enjoy classical music and the symphony. As a matter of fact, when we lived in Snellville, we’d often go to concerts in Athens rather than Atlanta. It was a much better experience since we didn’t have to deal with the awful Atlanta traffic.

How did you learn about Harbor Club?

My brother was planning a move from Portland to Georgia so he could be closer to the family. He came to visit and we took him around to visit several nearby communities. As we traveled, I remember seeing Harbor Club and it piqued my curiosity. Later, my husband and I ended up going back and taking a closer look at it on our own. We absolutely fell in love with it.

Did you visit other communities in your search?

At the time, we weren’t really searching for ourselves as it was more for my brother. We did visit several communities with him and discovered a house that we liked at one of them. But when we saw Harbor Club, we found we liked the community and the homes much better.

What made you choose Harbor Club?

We found we greatly admired Patriot-built houses. They are very different from the “cookie-cutter” houses of other communities. When we visited Harbor Club we fell in love with a new Cottage home that was nearly complete in the construction process. It was the Osprey floor plan. A designer had already picked out some of the finishing details, which were beautiful, but I wanted to make some changes. Kathy Phillips (the Director of Sales) took me to the Design Studio so I could see all the decor details in one place. I found that to be very helpful. It was fun to pick out what I liked and to see how it would look together.

Harbor Club is in such a beautiful location – away from it all, yet close to what you need. What is it about the location that appeals to you the most?

There are two things that make it an excellent location. One, we love not having to deal with crazy Atlanta traffic. Two, we love living in a lake community. We’ve never lived on or near a lake before. Here, we find it to be very aesthetically pleasing.

What amenities do you typically use?

I enjoy using the gym, as well as taking fitness classes over at The Grove. My husband has taken up pickleball and he loves it. We enjoy meals at both the Clubhouse and Boathouse restaurants. My husband has been to a trivia night and he said it was a lot of fun. He’s also got a plot at the Victory Garden. We were avid gardeners and involved with community gardens when we lived in Snellville, so it’s nice to be able to do that here too. We’re also looking forward to taking the grandkids to the pool this summer. You know, we’re not golfers, so we decided to invest in a social membership. It’s been great because it gives us access to all the activities and events we enjoy.

What are the best things about living at Harbor Club?

The people here are wonderful. Not just our neighbors, but everyone that works here too. They are all so helpful and kind. The location is beautiful. It’s a very pleasant place to live.

Do you participate in any of the community events and activities? Is there a favorite event or activity you can share with us?

I joined the Ladies League which has been fantastic. We do lots of fun things like field trips, luncheons, speaker sessions, and more. I’ve joined the book club through the Ladies League too. I love it!

Can you provide an example where Harbor Club exceeded your expectations?

When you move into a new home, it can be challenging to get the builder to address concerns. Not so here. Patriot Builders has certainly exceeded our expectations. They are consistently helpful, stick to their word, and get things done.

What are some of the reasons you would recommend Patriot Builders?

The quality of their work is excellent. I also admire their willingness to go above and beyond to address issues.

What would you tell people who are considering a move to Harbor Club?

It’s the best place to live! I keep telling my friends to come check it out because I know they’ll love it here.
